    Duties & Responsibilities

    Medical Science & Computing is searching for a Clinical Trials Research Nurse for ongoing clinical virology research studies at the National Institutes of Health (NIH).  This opportunity is a full-time position with MSC and is on-campus at the NIH in Bethesda, MD. 


    • Assist with all aspects of the protocol “lifecycle” including protocol development, initial investigational new drug (IND) application submission, institutional review board (IRB) submission, study initiation, protocol amendments, protocol continuing review applications, IND annual reports, protocol deviation and adverse event reports, and protocol inactivation with IRB and FDA.
    • Act as a study coordinator for assigned research protocols, which includes organizing study initiation and coordinating research participant screening and study visits
    • Develop protocol flowsheets and case report forms.
    • Participate in the recruitment, screening, and enrollment of potential research participants
    • Organize and conduct research study visits
    • Identify and assist with reporting of adverse events and the timely reporting of serious adverse events
    • Identify and report protocol deviations
    • Prepare for and participate in study monitoring visits and follow up on monitoring reports to ensure that identified problems are addressed and resolved
    • Enroll off-site research participants and organize collection of research specimens
    • Participate in study data management that requires data entry into a study research database, active monitoring of quality of data, and pulling data queries for submission to the IRB, FDA and to study monitors or to the medical monitor
    • Participate in clinical research training sessions or courses and in quality assurance and quality improvement initiatives


    • Bachelors degree in nursing or related discipline with current valid licensure to practice as a registered nurse in the state of Maryland with at least 3+ years of applicable clinical experience
    • Excellent interpersonal skills
    • Organized and detail oriented
    • Significant clinical experience in nursing that is associated with strong assessment skills
    • Experience in or a strong interest in conducting clinical research with patients or healthy volunteers
    • NIH Clinical Trials experience strongly preferred.
    • Experience working with Excel or research databases
