    Medical Science and Computing is searching for an Enterprise Data Architect to support a Health IT and Grants Management Program. This opportunity is full time and it is on site in the Washington, DC Metro area.

    Duties & Responsibilities

    Skills and Responsibilities:

    • Analyze existing legacy system databases to determine data availability and needs with respect to the legacy applications.
    • Define definitions for data and stores (logical, schemas, models) for transactional and reporting requirements
    • Develop and maintain physical databases along with providing the logical/physical design
    • Analyze application data models against the requirements and report results
    • Develop Data Strategy and Data Models, along with review of results of data model evaluations and provide feedback.
    • Conduct data quality assessments and share results with the stakeholders.
    • Conduct audit of data and perform quality assessments
    • Identify data transformations needs
    • Research data models and access patterns available to leverage for the legacy system.

     

    Requirements

    Qualifications:

    • B.S. in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field
    • Knowledge of industry standard Enterprise Architecture Frameworks, (e.g. Zachman, TOGAF, DODAF) highly preferred.
    • At least eight (8) years of related experience in database systems management including four (4+) years’ experience with data architecture and data engineering including design, development, testing and implementation for large scale database systems. Includes experience with logical design, requirements definition and data administration with large-scale systems or client/server environments.  
    • Minimum of 5 year experience in relevant application database design, development and implementation, or applicable training program in database design and administration
    • Knowledge of and experience working with Agile principles and methods
    • Experience in design and architecture of databases including Oracle (11 & 12c), Sybase (v16) and SQL Server.
    • In-depth understanding and experience in data modeling and database design at enterprise level.
    • Experience with BI tools like Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition, SAP Business Objects and Tableau
    • Experience working in a heterogonous environment with direct experience with windows, Linux and Solaris operating systems.
    • Experience researching solutions, developing proofs of concepts related to design and architecture of databases
    • Demonstrated success in client support with excellent verbal and written communication skills
