    Duties & Responsibilities

    Medical Science & Computing is searching for a Program Support Assistant to provide support a fast-paced office at the National Institutes of Health (NIH).  This opportunity is full-time with MSC and it is on-site in Bethesda, Maryland.


    • Provide direction, guidance, and instruction to co-workers on administrative procedures.
    • Research information in order to prepare reports or answer inquiries.
    • Receive and screen visitors and telephone calls.
    • Arrange the logistics for meetings, including scheduling the time, space and equipment, coordinating with participants, and distributing handouts and agendas.
    • Prepare travel arrangements and complete vouchers after travel has been completed; coordinate and complete conference and training registration for staff.
    • Maintain a correspondence routing and tracking system to monitor workflow and track deadlines; maintain logs and records for use in tracking work progress.
    • Use software applications to prepare correspondence, reports, charts, and forms.
    • Review outgoing correspondence for proper use of grammar, punctuation, and format.
    • Prepare requisitions for the purchase of office supplies; purchase supplies through a formal purchasing system or program; maintain office supply inventory.
    • Establish and maintain databases.
    • Develop filing systems for a variety of documents.
    • Provide status updates for ongoing projects and activities.



    • Bachelor’s degree in a related field
    • Zero (0) to three (3) years of administrative support experience.
    • Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with travel procedures and travel preparation is required. Experience with government travel (i.e., Government Travel System CGE) is highly desired.
    • Experience working in a fast-paced environment. Ability to multitask.
    • Ability to communicate with diplomacy and tact with executive-level staff and scientists.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint).
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
    • Exceptional organizational skills.
    • Ability to sit for prolonged periods of time at a computer and/or desk. Ability to move within the worksite as well as travel to other, local research sites.
