    Duties & Responsibilities

    Medical Science & Computing is searching for a Laboratory Analyst to support the National Institutes of Health (NIH). This opportunity is full-time, and it is on-site in Gaithersburg, MD.

     

    Duties & Responsibilities:

     

    The successful candidate will be responsible for performance of immune based analytical methods according to the direction provided by the Test Area Supervisor and according to established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). This position will primarily be performing Specimen Processing and Intracellular Cytokine Staining (ICS).

     

    • Responsible for the performance of immune based analytical methods according to the direction provided by the Testing Laboratory Management, according to established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
    • Responsible for following established SOPs to perform immunological testing of human clinical samples in assays inclusive of: Specimen Processing and Intracellular Cytokine Staining, and other immunological assays.
    • Responsible for performing testing as scheduled by management, with the flexibility of being able to perform various procedures as called upon.  Position requires the ability to work flexible hours when needed.
    • Perform sample preparation for assays to include frozen sample retrieval from inventory, sample check-out of inventory, heat inactivation, and centrifugation.
    • Aliquot specimens using aseptic technique.
    • Prepare laboratory reagents.
    • Maintain laboratory instrumentation and equipment.
    • Scanning of samples into inventory
    • Responsible for reporting potential problems in a proactive manner to management.
    • Maintain reagent and supply inventories.
    • Perform assay and instrument QC testing as directed by management.
    • Work with the management to quickly provide resolution to any documentation or testing deficiencies
    • Work as a member of a team working for a common goal, and be willing to help out others when needed to assure all daily assignments are completed.
    • Become familiar with and assure compliance with Good Clinical Laboratory Procedures (GCLP).
    • Follow established safety related SOPs to maintain a safe workplace.
    • Participate in laboratory inspections in a technical manner (e.g. physical observation) to verify conformance to applicable SOP and regulatory requirements with regard to internal and external audits.
    • Perform other duties as required.

    Requirements

    Position Requirements:

    • A minimum of a BS degree in biological sciences or related discipline with 1+ years of specimen processing experience.
    • A minimum of 2-4 years of laboratory bench experience.
    • Experience with Intracellular Cytokine Staining (ICS) in a GLP/GCLP testing laboratory.
    • Ability to perform repetitive detail-oriented laboratory procedures independently.
    • Team player, who is willing to support cross team collaboration as needed.
    • Excellent communication skills.
    • NIH experience a plus.
