    Duties & Responsibilities

    MSC is currently searching for a Program Assistant to support the National Institutes of Health (NIH). This opportunity is full-time, and it is on site in Bethesda, MD.



    • Provide core program support to senior staff
    • Answer the main office line and route phone calls.
    • Assist with records keeping, such as office physical files and electronic data.
    • Assist with preparing and reviewing travel packages.
    • Monitors and acquires office supplies for the office, ensures adequate stock of all purchases, and reorders supplies as needed.
    • Receive hand carry packages and forward as necessary.
    • Aid in transferring paper packages to an electronic database.
    • Process incoming and outgoing office mail (including FedEx etc.)
    • Send documents by hand carry and electronically to other offices
    • Keep track of any changes and updates to the office contact lists.
    • Help enter monthly lab status updates into online databases.
    • Create new personnel folders as well as electronic folders in online systems such as PARIS, LiveLink, and DWTS.
    • Prepare cases to be signed by the Director.
    • Maintain and file physical and electronic versions of the signed cases.
    • Assist with quadrennial pay package preparation and delivery.
    • Help assign or deliver cases between laboratory staff and other programs
    • Attend search meetings as backup logistical support.
    • Support BSC planning and implementation, by assisting with PSO and travel requests, and attending meetings as needed to provide logistical support, including meeting set up and breakdown, coordinating with food vendors, escorting interviewers, coordinating transportation.
    • Provide office assistance to other offices or laboratories as needed.




    • BS/BA degree with 1+ years of professional experience.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and the Internet.
    • Demonstrated ability to plan, organize and prioritize work in an environment with multiple and conflicting demands.
    • Ability to draft and format written documents.
    • Ability to multi-task and pay close attention to detail.
    • Ability to exercise initiative and work independently.
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive matters diplomatically and discreetly.
    • Excellent organizational, leadership, and time management skills.
    • Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
    • Previous NIH experience preferred.
    • Candidate must possess basic computer literacy, organizational, project management, interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills.
    • Candidate must be detail-oriented, demonstrate an ability to juggle multiple tasks and projects, and possess a commitment to a client-centered approach to service delivery and administrative support.
