    Duties & Responsibilities

    Medical Science & Computing is searching for a Linux Administrator to provide support to the National Institutes of Health (NIH). This opportunity is full-time, and it is on-site in Bethesda, Maryland.

    • Hands-on provisioning/upgrading/maintenance of monitoring services
    • In depth knowledge of, and experience with monitoring architectures and solutions.
    • Take direction from the team lead and work within a team-environment to achieve organizational goals
    • Provide technical solutions to a wide range of monitoring problems and user requests through an established trouble ticketing system
    • Provide hands-on systems monitoring oversight and solutions working with the Operations, Developer and DevOps teams within NCBI

    Requirements

    • Bachelor’s degree or 5 years of related experience
    • Working understanding of Linux Systems Administration
    • Experience working with integration of monitoring/alerting solutions
    • Basic knowledge of cloud technology, including AWS and GCP
    • Experience supporting large web applications environment
    • Familiar with enterprise network architectures
    • Working understanding of programming/scripting skills for automation in at least two of Bash, Ruby, Python, and Perl
    • General understanding of TCP/IP and related protocols (HTTP, FTP, NFS, etc…)
    • Comfortable dealing with users with varying levels of IT knowledge

    Team player who is nevertheless able to work with minimum supervision
